About this CD
Francesco Barsanti was a contemporary of Geminiani, and like him worked for a number of years in London; Barsanti moved thence to Edinburgh – where he lived for some thirty years – before making his return to the British capital. His first published opus, consisting of these six flute sonatas, allow the superb members of the ensemble Arcadia (flautist Christoph Ehrsam, gambist Eunice Brandão and harpsichordist Attilio Cremonesi) to project all their sensitivity for and control of the melodic impulse and of the realization of the basso continuo.
